Mile Marathon Committee Meetings

FEBRUARY 21, 2025 | 8AM-9AM – Student fundraising, schedules & logistics
The committee members continued to prepare for the upcoming celebration at the fourth Mile Marathon committee meeting. The agenda included finalizing a goal for the student fundraiser, event scheduling and race day logistics, as well as communicating to Columbine staff and community some FAQs about the race. Next up: outreach to invite VIP Guests to speak to the students and finalizing the permit for event day.

JANUARY 24, 2025 | 8AM-9AM – RAMPING UP FOR 2025
The Mile Marathon Committee gathered for our third meeting at the end of January, and what a productive session it was! With our corporate sponsorships nearly finalized, the conversation turned to an exciting next step: setting a fundraising goal for the students. This milestone event is not just a fun run—it’s Columbine Elementary’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and we’re eager to make it the most successful one yet!

Introducing a NEW tradition: A Grand Marshall
We are thrilled to announce a brand-new tradition for 2025: the Mile Marathon Grand Marshal! And who better to take on this inaugural role than Sarah Vaughn—local marathoner, PUMA runner, and future Columbine parent! Sarah’s passion for running and community involvement make her the perfect choice to kick off this year’s event. We are incredibly grateful for her support and can’t wait to celebrate with her at the starting line.

As we gear up for race day, we’ll continue working hard to ensure this event is a fantastic experience for all Columbine students. Stay tuned for more updates, including details on student fundraising efforts, volunteer opportunities, and race day logistics.

DECEMBER 6 | 8AM-9AM – LAST MM COMMITTEE MEETING FOR 2024
The 2nd Mile Marathon Committee for 2024-2025 was scheduled for December 6th. We’ll are moving forward with planning! On the agenda is discussion of the 2025 corporate sponsorship, 5th grade bags, VIP event guests and more!

OCTOBER 11 | 8AM-9AM – FALL 2024 KICK OFF MEETING
The first Mile Marathon Committee meeting for the 2025 year got off to a great start! On the agenda included welcoming new committee members, showcasing the uniqueness that is the Mile Marathon, and discussing fundraising goals. Volunteers were also assigned committee responsibilities. Did you know that there are a LOT of various moving parts that come together to make the Mile Marathon?
